M.R.E. also offers intake porting as well, with 3 types of stages. Each stage will help compliment a specific level of porting that you choose. Some intakes work well out of the box, but most of the time can benefit from some type of port work. Below is a list of stages we offer for any style manifold.Stage 1:This stage is basically a port match to aid in a greater transition from manifold to cylinder head. Best used with gasket matched heads.
Pontiac Tomahawk
Stage 2:At this stage, we gasket match the port entrances, as well as reqork the top of the plenum. This includes blending the tops of the port entrances as well as the runner dividers, and the top of the plenum to accomodate 4150-4500 adapters, carb spacers, and nitrous plates for a smooth transition from carburetor to port entrance. This is the most common stage asked for. It greatly aids in throttle response, torque, and fuel distribution. Best results are gained with the use of one of our HVH super suckers, but works well with any style.
Pontiac Tomahawk before and after.
Stage 3:This is an all out race version or porting. It will include all of the above, plus fully ported runners, plenum floor and thinned runner dividers for maximum volume and horsepower. This stage is recommended for our stage 5 or 6 Cylinder head porting for best results.
GM SB2.2 Spider
Dart Edelbrock Ford Victor Jr.
Stage 4:This is basically for the Ultra Maximum Effort heads for those who want the ultimate in power. It is a custom sheetmetal intake designed for each application, and comes with either a single or dual carburetor top, for 4150 or 4500 series carburetor. Since this is a custom option, turnaround time will vary with each piece.
